Paris has much to see and many things can be toured by foot. To the north of the Seine, the tree-lined avenue des Champs-Élysées running west under the stately Arc de Triomphe is a good place to start a walking tour. A full day or more can be spent exploring the Louvre, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes when visiting this museum.
The Île de la Cité is the oldest and most heavily visited part of Paris, home to the world famous 12th century Gothic masterpiece – Notre Dame. You can climb the 75-metre north tower for spectacular views over the River Seine and the city centre.
No visit to Paris is complete without taking a lift up the Eiffel Tower. The top floor of the tower offers great views of Paris. Enchanting boutiques can be found at the Marais district. Alternatively, the winding rue des Rosiers in the Jewish quarter has plenty of young designers whose works are displayed at L’Eclaireur.
Pigalle is home to some good music venues and the Moulin Rouge cabaret if you can overlook the seedy atmosphere prominent here. Montmartre offers some of the best views over Paris from stunning Basilique Sacré-Coeur, and a good place for an evening’s café-hopping is the Marais district.
